Help!
This is a fast-paced and challenging course, but there are lots of resources available to help you. If you find yourself stuck, please access the following resources IN THIS ORDER:
Step 1
If you have trouble with the E-Learning system or your computer, please contact the UF Computing Help Desk. This includes not being able to access E-Learning, not being able to submit work, having regular computer crashes, not being able to install software, etc. These are all issues the Help Desk can assist you with-- and that I have little or no control over!
Step 2
If you have questions about an assignment, please read all of the posted material first. The answer to your question is probably in this handbook or in the module materials.Step 3
If you can't find the answer in the course materials, try looking online. I am able to resolve most of my technical issues quickly and easily with a Google search and you might find the same.Step 4
If you still can't figure it out, check out the Help! page at the bottom of each module to see if the question has already been asked and answered before. If it hasn't, post your question (following the format given) on the module's Help! page and check back for an answer from a classmate or the instructor within a few days.Step 5
If your question regards grades, disability accommodations, or other matters of a personal and confidential nature, e-mail me (Lauren Hertel) through the E-Learning system. I will respond to e-mail every few days, so please understand that you might not get an immediate response to your question.
To send an e-mail from the course:
- Click on the envelope icon (Mail tool) on the left side of your screen.
- Click the "Create Message" button.
- Click the "Browse for Recipients" button.
- Check the "to" box next to Lauren Hertel.
- Click the "save" button at the bottom of the screen.
- Type your message and add any necessary attachments. Be sure that your subject line is meaningful! (Follow the same format you use for discussion posts, if possible.)
- Click "send."
E-mails and questions regarding material that is already contained in the handbook or on the Help! discussion boards will not be answered. This might seem harsh, but it helps me save my time for answering serious questions instead of repeating myself over and over and over... you get the idea! Help me to help you by looking for an answer to your question first in the course material, then by posting to the Help! discussion board, and finally by e-mailing me.
